Front Page Video: If you plan on getting older, or know someone who is...get to know this organization. I was invited to Silver Spring Village's Community Donor Appreciation Event last week and was inspired by folks making a big difference in the quality of life for seniors in 20910. People are moving to our zipcode precisely because of this program. Silver Spring Village is not 'a place'. It's a state of mind and a sense of community. Helping neighbors age in place... a Place called 'home'.
Who better to present the vision for Silver Spring than those living and working here? We celebrate everyday lives with a look at who we are and how we live in 20910. No artist's renderings or 'pretty pictures.' Just Real Life in focus.
Birth of a Video Blog
I've lived in Rosemary Hills for almost 27 years, participating in several neighborhood issues along the way. In 2012, I was selected for the Silver Spring Citizens' Advisory Board to provide advice to the County Executive and County Council. Here I've witnessed the power of 'showing up' but also recognized that not everyone can.
Professionally I've worked in communications and marketing for a long time too. And in that time, I've especially enjoyed interviewing people about what they do for a living and to make a difference. If you're lucky these are one and the same.
I hope this venture will allow me to share stories of people you don't know, and things you didn't know about people you do. Along the way, I'll get help from many long-time friends.
